Dangerous goods and substances

In general

The BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Berlin, quo data GmbH, Dresden, and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Braunschweig, have started a new interlaboratory comparison program for testing the physical-chemical hazardous properties of dangerous goods and substances.

The interlaboratory comparisons for assessing explosion danger, flammability, flashpoint, ignition temperature, fire-promoting characteristics or the corrosion behaviour are performed with world-wide participation.

The extended round robin test program and the 5th call for expression of interest of participation can be found on the right.

In 2007 in the first interlaboratory comparison the test method UN-N.5 – Materials which develop inflammable gases in contact with water has been analysed.

In cooperation with the IGUS EOS ad hoc working group "Energetic and Oxidising Substances" in 2009 the interlaboratory study UN-O.1 – Classification of oxidising solids has been analysed.

Currently, a round robin test on the method UN O.2 / EC A.21 "Test for oxidizing liquids" is being analysed.
